Why Grow Bastan Poblano Pepper?

Premium Poblano Pepper Variety The Bastan Poblano Pepper is a standout variety known for its large, high-quality fruit, thick walls, and exceptional culinary versatility. Producing uniform peppers that average 5 inches long with a classic two-lobed shape, Bastan delivers mild heat and outstanding texture. Fruits begin a rich dark green and mature to an eye-catching dark chocolate color, adding visual appeal along with flavor. Its thick flesh makes it especially well-suited for roasting, stuffing, frying, and traditional chile rellenos.

High Yields with Excellent Plant Structure Bastan Poblano Pepper plants feature an upright growth habit with strong vigor and excellent leaf cover that helps protect developing fruit from sun damage. This variety is highly productive, setting large numbers of peppers that mature together for efficient harvesting. With its combination of heavy yields, reliable fruit protection, and premium fruit quality, Bastan Poblano Pepper is an excellent choice for both home gardeners and growers seeking dependable performance and outstanding culinary results.

Bastan Poblano Pepper Growing Tips

• When to Plant Peppers

Peppers are a "warm season" vegetable that should be transplanted in the garden once the risk of frost has passed in the early spring months. Start the seeds in a greenhouse or seed starting room 6-8 weeks before your intended in-ground planting date.

Compared to other vegetables, pepper seeds will take longer to germinate. It's not unusual for pepper seeds to take 7-10 days to germinate. Hotter peppers can take even longer. Be patient and keep your seed starting mix moist and the soil temperatures consistently warm. A heat mat is your best friend when germinating pepper seeds.

Once you have pepper seedlings with a well-developed root ball, give each pepper plant approximately 2' or more of space in your garden. Planting them close and allowing the plants to lean on one another helps support the plants as they grow. You can use cages or a Florida Weave trellis to support the plants as they develop fruits.

To learn how to use the Florida Weave trellis, watch this video.

• How to Fertilize Peppers

It's always a good idea to apply some pre-plant fertilizer to the soil when planting peppers. We like to add a handful Coop Gro organic fertilizer in the planting hole for each pepper plant. This ensures the plants have the right nutrients to put down roots in their new soil.

Fruiting vegetables like peppers will benefit from something called "spoon feeding." This process involves frequent fertilizations at lower concentrations, as compared to fertilizing them heavily once.

Once your pepper plants start to grow after transplanting, feed them every 2-3 weeks with a relatively balanced fertilizer. We like to sprinkle Coop Gro around the plants or make a liquid solution of AgroThrive Fruit & Flower and pour that alongside the plants.

• Harvesting Peppers

Peppers can be harvested at any size you'd like. If you're needing fresh peppers for a particular dish, don't hesitate to pick them smaller. Or you can let them grow to their full potential before harvesting them.

Many peppers will turn a different color as they mature. This is often when the peppers will have the most flavor. In the case of Bastan Poblano Peppers, they'll start out green and mature to a beautiful dark red color. If you can wait and let them turn completely red, you'll be rewarded with some delicious, flavorful peppers!

Plastic stuffing in it
Color: blue
I was concerned when I started finding little pieces of plastic wrap around my house. Where did it come from, I wondered? When my puppy is shark “no stuffing” toy to me, I found the source! The fin he ripped off that crinkled was full of little plastic pieces of plastic wrap. And it was all over the houses.

GREAT PUPPY TOYS!!
Color: green
It’s great for a puppy. My dog Is 2 1/2 years old and still plays with them. They have withstood 2+ years of a puppy chewing on it and playing tug of war constantly. I recommend this toy for puppies and older dogs. Very good quality!

Not very durable
Color: green
These toys are fun for my dog to play with but the alligator one, the rope started to come unraveled. I was able to pull it off and throw it away and the toy is still okay. Not as durable as I would like.

So much sturdy fun for little dogs!
Size: Small 2"
Wow! My puppy loves these! He is entertained endlessly chasing after and nose scooting the little rubber balls! He really seems to enjoy the jingle sound and loves to chew on the balls also. Even with a lot of chewing from his little teeth, there are no marks. Sturdy, great toy!
